Abstract
The paper is divided into four sections: (1) Profile of Organized Crime Groups and Activities (La Cosa Nostra, Colombian Cocaine Rings, Sicilian Mafia, Ndrangheta and Camorra; Asian Organized Crime in the United States, Mexican Narcotics Organizations, Drug Distribution Gangs, and Economic Impact of Organized Crime); (2) Substantive Legislation (Criminal Activity by Organized Crime, Participation in an Organized Criminal Activity, Currency Regulations and Money Laundering, Corruption, and Penalties); (3) Procedural Legislation (Mandatory as Opposed to Discretionary Principles of Prosecution; Preventive Measures; Witness Protection Legislation); and (4) Law Enforcement Methods (Intelligence Management, Targeting Strategies, and Criminal Intelligence and Evidence Gathering Techniques.
