This article is about organized crime and drug problems in China.
Abstract
One of the most serious threats to the public security in many countries is of organized crime. The paper includes: (1) an overview of the general situations and types of criminal groups in China since 1949; (2) laws on organized crime; (3) principles abided by in the Department of Criminal Justice to identify criminal groups; (4) current drug problems in China and effective countermeasures; (5) the general situation of drug crime offenses in recent years; (6) possible tendency of drug crime in China; (7) major countermeasures taken by the State against drug crime; (8) problems and shortcomings in the work of law enforcement; (9) and suggestions. There is an appendix containing the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on the Prohibition against Narcotic Drugs, adopted at the 17th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress on December 28, 1990.
