ALTERING THE PHYSICAL STRUCTURE OF INMATE GROUPS AND USING CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS AS THERAPISTS IN ORDER TO SHARE INMATE BEHAVIOR ALONG SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE LINES.
Abstract
THE OBJECT OF THIS MODEL IS TO PROVIDE A SETTING FOR MAXIMUM INTAKE OF SOCIAL NORMS AND VALUES BY INCREASING THE STIMULUS CONTROL AND REINFORCEMENT CAPABILITIES OF ALL PERSONS WITH WHOM THE INMATE INTERACTS. THIS SYSTEM REQUIRES THAT ALL CUSTODIAL PERSONNEL BE TRAINED IN TECHNIQUES FOR CHANGING AND SYSTEMATICALLY OBSERVING BEHAVIOR. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY PLACING THE INMATE WITH OTHER INMATES WHO WILL REINFORCE NEW BEHAVIOR PATTERNS.
