Abstract
THE DUKES COUNTY COURT HAS BEEN UNDER A MEASURABLE WORKLOAD STRAIN DUE TO SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED CASELOAD IN ALL MAJOR AREAS OF THE COURT'S JURISDICTION. AN INCREASED CLERICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE WORKLOAD HAS BEEN A DIRECT FUNCTION OF THIS ESCALATION OF BUSINESS. THE REVIEW OF OPERATIONS WAS CONDUCTED TO EVALUATE THE NEEDS OF THE COURT AND TO IDENTIFY AREAS WHERE INCREASED EFFICIENCY COULD BE OBTAINED. BASED ON THE REVIEW, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT NEW PROCEDURES TO MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCY OF CLERICAL PERSONNEL BE ADOPTED, THAT PROBATION RECORD KEEPING BE REVISED AND THAT BUDGET PREPARATION BE COORDINATED BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS. IMPROVEMENTS IN THE OFFICE FACILITIES AND AN INCREASE IN THE CLERICAL STAFFING LEVEL ARE ALSO SUGGESTED....DMC
