Abstract
The field training and evaluation program (FTEP) is an officer selection process that combines prefield training with objective evaluations of inservice performance. The FTO's plan and implement lectures, discussions, and individualized programs for trainees and evaluate their on-the-job performance. The manual outlines the structure of the program and the four phases of the 12-week program. After describing the duties of the FTEP supervisor and commander, the manual presents the procedure for selecting FTEP personnel. The description of the evaluation process addresses the evaluation schedule, the distribution of reports and evaluations, group assessment, and the procedure for recommending a recruit's employment termination. The manual also discusses program reorganization and updating as well as FTO instructional techniques. The manual contains inservice training guides and evaluation forms, including the form for the trainee's evaluation of the FTO.
