A SUMMARY OF THE ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 1974, INCLUDING INFORMATION ON FELONY TRIALS, SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND INVESTIGATIONS, AND THE EFFECT OF INCREASED COURT CASELOADS.
Abstract
DATA IS PROVIDED ON THE PARTICULAR TYPES OF CRIMES PROSECUTED BY THE FELONY TRIAL UNIT DURING THE YEAR HOMICIDES, NARCOTICS, VIOLENT CRIMES, NON-VIOLENT CRIMES, WELFARE FRAUDS, AND DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED AS A FELONY. ACTIVITIES OF THE LAW UNIT, WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MOTION AND APPELLATE PRACTICE, LEGAL RESEARCH, AND OTHER SPECIALIZED PROCEEDINGS AND ACTIVITIES RELATING TO THE GRAND JURY, THE FAMILY COURT, THE LOWER COURT UNIT AND THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S ADVISORY COUNCIL. ALSO EXAMINED ARE THE ACTIONS OF THE SCREENING UNIT WHICH REVIEWS, APPROVES, OR DISAPPROVES ALL CASES SUBMITTED BY THE SYRACUSE POLICE DEPARTMENT OR PRIVATE COMPLAINTS FOR WARRANTS OF ARREST. SPECIAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS THE INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS INVOLVING GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND PERSONNEL TRAINING ACTIVITIES ARE DESCRIBED AS WELL.
