OKLAHOMA'S PLAN FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, THE COURTS, CORRECTIONS, JUVENILE JUSTICE, CRIMINAL JUSTICE-RELATED SOCIAL SERVICES, SYSTEMWIDE PLANNING, AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE PLAN REPRESENTS THE WORK OF OVER 75 OKLAHOMA CITIZENS WHO SERVED ON 5 SUBCOMMITTEES AND 2 SPECIAL TASK FORCES. THEIR 1-YEAR PLANNING EFFORT INCLUDED A CONFERENCE, STUDIES OF PLANNING RECOMMENDATIONS FROM NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, SUBCOMMITTEE AND TASK FORCE MEETINGS AND DRAFTING SESSIONS, AND PUBLIC HEARINGS. THE RESULTING PLAN IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE A BASIS FOR PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, AS WELL AS CRITERIA FOR THE FUNDING AND EVALUATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROJECTS IN OKLAHOMA. SEPARATE SECTIONS ON LAW ENFORCEMENT , COURTS, CORRECTIONS, JUVENILE JUSTICE, SOCIAL SERVICES, SYSTEMWIDE PLANNING, AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS SET FORTH GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND STRATEGY SUGGESTIONS. INTRODUCTORY OVERVIEWS OUTLINE THE STRUCTURE AND STATUS OF EACH CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM COMPONENT AND ENUMERATE PRIORITIES FOR EACH COMPONENT. A LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY ABSTRACTS THOSE PLANNING RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WILL REQUIRE LEGISLATIVE ACTION. (LKM)
