The Division spent $14,772,530.66 in 1981, a 7-percent increase over the previous year.
Abstract
The Division has three bureaus: the Adult Parole Authority, Community Services, and Adult Detention Facilities. A new case management system for adult parole supervision was implemented which was designed to assist staff in the rapid, accurate assessment and classification of probationers and parolees with assignment based upon a workload concept rather than caseload. The Parole Board conducted 14,632 hearings in 1981, with more than 80 percent of these release hearings. Also in 1981, halfway houses provided service of 1,237 offenders; 376 parolees; 625 probationers; 168 furloughees, and 68 'others.' At the conclusion of the year, 84 or 88 county jails had been inspected at least once with the Bureau of Adult Detention's 1978 adopted standards. Deficiencies in these facilities are noted, such as the lack of written policies and procedures in more than half the jails. Tables and figures are supplied.
