This report details the use of community service for Ohio offenders during 1994 and notes that the record total of 622,154 inmate community service hours represents an increase of 112,019 hours over 1993.
Abstract
Using the Federal minimum wage as a general guide, Ohio inmates provided approximately 2.6 million dollars of in- kind services in 1994 to charitable, nonprofit, and governmental entities. Activities included building maintenance, renovation of housing and other buildings, recording talking books for public schools and a State agency, growing gardens to help feed hungry people, the repair of school athletic facilities, training of pilot dogs, and making student learning aids. A total of 3,686 inmates were involved in community service during the year. Tables
