GOALS AND STANDARDS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, CRIME PREVENTION, COURTS, AND ADULT CORRECTIONS IN OHIO ARE SET FORTH.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THE GOALS AND STANDARDS IS TO ASSIST LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND STATE AGENCIES IN UPGRADING CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND STAFF. THE GOALS AND STANDARDS WERE DEVELOPED OVER A 2-YEAR PERIOD BY THE OHIO CRIMINAL JUSTICE SUPERVISORY COMMISSION UNDER AN LEAA GRANT. LAW ENFORCEMENT GOALS AND STANDARDS RELATE TO RECRUITING, TRAINING, FACILITY CONSTRUCTION, PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT, ANCILLARY SERVICES, CRIME LABORATORIES, LABORATORY SYSTEMS, EVIDENCE, POLYGRAPHS, PHOTOGRAPHY, COMMUNICATIONS, AND DETECTION AND APPREHENSION. COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION GOALS AND STANDARDS CONCERN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, THE STRENGTHENING OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSES, AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. STANDARDS AND GOALS FOR THE STATE'S COURTS RELATE TO PROSECUTION, THE JUDICIARY, PUBLIC DEFENDERS, AND ADULT DIVERSION. UNDER THE GENERAL HEADING OF DETERRERCE AND REINTEGRATION, GOALS AND STANDARDS FOR ADULT CORRECTIONS CONCERN SENTENCING, COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS, INSTITUTIONS, RIGHTS OF OFFENDERS, PLANNING, SPECIAL OFFENDER TYPES, PROBATION AND PAROLE, CORRECTIONAL MANPOWER, AND TRAINING.
