OHIO'S PLAN FOR ASSURING THE CONFIDENTIALITY, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, AND AVAILABILITY OF DATA ENTERED IN CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD INFORMATION SYSTEMS IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE PLAN WAS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH RULES AND REGULATIONS PROMULGATED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN ARE STATED, AND THE ORGANIZATION OF OHIO'S STATE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, COURT SYSTEM, AND CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED, SPECIFIC STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING PLAN OBJECTIVES ARE SET FORTH RELATIVE TO COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY OF DATA, LIMITS ON DISSEMINATION, AUDIT AND QUALITY CONTROL, SECURITY, AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHT OF ACCESS AND REVIEW. A GLOSSARY AND SAMPLE COPIES OF CERTIFICATION FORMS ARE PROVIDED. APPENDED MATERIALS INCLUDE A FLOWCHART OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, EXCERPTS FROM ENABLING LEGISLATION FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND INVESTIGATIVE AGENCIES IN OHIO, MATERIALS RELEVANT TO LIMITS ON DISSEMINATION, A CHECKLIST FOR USE IN ESTABLISHING SYSTEM SECURITY, AN EXAMPLE OF A LOCAL-LEVEL INDIVIDUAL ACCESS AND REVIEW POLICY, AND OTHER SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.
