This Annual Report of the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Justice Programs (OJP) for fiscal year 2007 presents information on OJP's activities pertinent to law enforcement; courts; corrections; gangs; juvenile justice; crime victims; drug-related crime; technology for fighting crime; and research, statistics, and evaluation.
Abstract
This annual report presents an overview of many of the projects undertaken by OJP in fulfilling its mission of providing resources to the justice community. OJP draws on a wealth of knowledge supported by research and staff experience that ensure the funds allocated by Congress reach those programs best able to address the needs identified by OJP. Based on the outcomes and lessons learned from OJP funded programs, it disseminates information on promising practices and proven approaches for increasing public safety across the Nation. OJP consists of the following bureaus and program offices: the Bureau of Justice Assistance; Bureau of Justice Statistics; National Institute of Justice; Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention; Office for Victims of Crime; Community Capacity Development; and Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking. Under each of the major topic areas addressed in this report, information is provided on the program funded by OJP and the amount of the funding for fiscal year 2007. The appendix provides the following information for fiscal year 2007 on each program under each of the major topics of the report: number of grants, grant amount, and the number and amount of nongrants.
