The Canada Correctional Service developed this module to provide correctional staff with information on the structure of offender sentences. The module stresses rehabilitation, reintegration, and release of inmates in the shortest possible timeframe.
Abstract
Participants learn to recognize the importance of release initiatives and the identification of offenders with accelerated release potential and understand the terminology used in administration of offender sentences and the parole decisionmaking policies and procedures. Other module objectives focus on the definition of key junctures of a sentence in terms of parole eligibility and possibilities, the link between case management and the sentence line, and the impact of detention legislation on decisionmaking.
