A PROJECT WHICH ATTEMPTS TO BRING TOGETHER POLICE AND COMMUNITY LEADERS IN WORKSHOPS, TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATIONS.
Abstract
FIVE COMMUNITIES UNDERTOOK POLICE COMMUNITY WORK, AND OTHER COMMUNITIES UNDERTOOK WORK ON PARTICULAR PROBLEMS. FACTORS TOWARD MAINTAINING HIGH ENTHUSIASM AT COMMUNITY MEETINGS CENTERED ON VITAL PROBLEMS. AT ONE WORKSHOP, GUIDELINES WERE FORMULATED ON DEMONSTRATIONS AND CROWD BEHAVIOR. SOME MAJOR PROBLEMS DISCUSSED WERE INSUFFICIENT FUNDS, LACK OF ADEQUATE LEADERSHIP, AND FAILURE TO UNDERSTAND ASPECTS OF CULTURAL REVOLT. NEW METHODS IN POLICE-COMMUNITY WORK PRODUCED BY THIS PROJECT ARE LISTED.
