THIS SLIDE AND CASSETTE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR SECURITY OFFICERS PROVIDES MATERIAL ON PROPER NOTE TAKING AND REPORT WRITING, SO THAT THEY CAN COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY.
Abstract
SECURITY OFFICERS ARE INSTRUCTED TO TAKE ADEQUATE NOTES SO THAT THE SECURITY OPERATION OF THE FACILITY IS MORE EFFICIENT. THE NOTES ARE VERY USEFUL TO THE OFFICER ON THE NEXT SHIFT, BECAUSE HE OR SHE WILL BE WARNED OF ANY PROBLEMS OR IRREGULARITIES. SEVERAL SAMPLE SCENES ARE PROVIDED SO THAT THE TRAINEES CAN TAKE NOTES TO HELP IN WRITING UP A DESCRIPTION OF A PERSON OR VEHICLE. THE MAIN QUALITIES OF GOOD NOTE TAKING ARE CLARITY, LEGIBILITY, COMPLETENESS, ACCURACY, BREVITY, AND TIMELINESS, AND THEY SHOULD INCLUDE THE WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHERE, AND WHEN OF AN EVENT. SUGGESTIONS FOR GOOD WRITING INCLUDE HAVING SOMEONE READ AND CORRECT THE ROUGH DRAFT, MAKING SURE THAT THE REPORT IS LEGIBLE AND UNDERSTANDABLE, AVOIDING OPINIONS AND CONCLUSIONS, AND MAKING SURE THAT THE REPORT IS EXACT. THE OFFICER IS REMINDED THAT THE PROTECTION OF THE COMPANY'S PROPERTY AND ASSETS DEPENDS UPON COMMUNICATION AMONG THEMSELVES AND TO THEIR SUPERIORS. (BAC)
