ESSAY ON THE BRAZILIAN LEGAL INSTITUTION OF EXILE AND THE RIGHTS OF EXILED PERSONS.
Abstract
EXILE CAN BE TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT AND FORBIDS THE EXILED PERSON TO LIVE IN OR ENTER BRAZILIAN TERRITORY. IT CAN BE INFLICTED BY COURT SENTENCE OR BY AN ADMINISTRATIVE DECISION. THE EXILE LOSES HIS CITIZENSHIP AND RIGHT TO VOTE, BUT NOT HIS NATIONALITY. NEVERTHELESS, HE REMAINS SUBJECT TO THE BRAZILIAN LAW AND THE NORMS OF INTERNATIONAL CIVIL LAW. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE EXILE TO APPOINT A SOLICITOR TO ACT FOR HIM. THIS CAN BE DONE BY OFFICIAL PAPERS DRAWN UP BY THE LOCAL BRAZILIAN DIPLOMATIC SERVICE. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED) --IN PORTUGUESE
