ORIENTATION METHODS, CLIENT ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES, AND PROCEDURES FOR NEGOTIATING CONTRACTS WITH CLIENTS ARE DESCRIBED IN A GUIDE FOR COMMUNITIES IMPLEMENTING THE NOSR YOUTH WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM MODEL.
Abstract
OBJECTIVES FOR THE CLIENT ORIENTATION PROGRAM ARE OUTLINED, AND SUGGESTIONS WITH REGARD TO TIMING THE ORIENTATION PERIOD AND CHOOSING BETWEEN GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL ORIENTATION APPROACHES ARE OFFERED. CONSIDERATIONS IN PLANNING THE ORIENTATION ENVIRONMENT ARE NOTED, AND STEPS IN PREPARING FOR ORIENTATION SESSIONS ARE LISTED. CONTENT SUGGESTIONS FOR FOUR ORIENTATION SESSIONS ARE PRESENTED, WITH EMPHASIS ON KEEPING PARTICIPANTS INVOLVED THROUGH THE USE OF FILMS, FILM STRIPS, DISCUSSIONS, TESTING, AND LECTURES. APPROACHES TO SECURING ASSESSMENTS OF CLIENTS ARE OUTLINED, AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS ARE NOTED. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF NEGOTIATED CONTRACTS BETWEEN ENROLLEES AND THE PROGRAM IS DISCUSSED. THE FOUR SECTIONS OF THE ENROLLEE CONTRACT -- PROFILE INFORMATION, NEEDS IDENTIFICATION, ENROLLEE, TIMETABLE/BUDGET, AND SIGNED AGREEMENT -- ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL, AND USES OF THE ENROLLEE CONTRACT ARE OUTLINED. CAUTIONS ARE NOTED WITH REGARD TO TREATING THE ENROLLEE CONTRACT SERIOUSLY, INVOLVING PARENTS IN THE CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS, AND ASSURING THAT THE CONTRACT IS REALISTIC. A SAMPLE CONTRACT IS APPENDED.
