              The Northeast Hazardous Waste Project is a multi-State effort to deal with the problem of illegal activity in the generation, transportation, storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous waste.
          Abstract
              The project's committee consists of representatives of the attorneys' general offices and regulatory agencies of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia as well as of the Federal Government. Professional staff assist the coordinating committee. Funding comes from Federal grants matched by State contributions. The project's three types of services are information services, particularly automated information services; training through courses, conferences, and inspections; and technical assistance to participating States. Professional staff and independent consultants provide technical assistance in the areas of research, planning, evaluation, data analysis, and program management.
