North Carolina's action plans to reduce crime and develop the criminal justice system are outlined for 1973 and for 1974-77.
Abstract
For 1973, general grant conditions are outlined in the areas of reports to be submitted, copyrights, patents, financial reports, fiscal regulations, grants for construction, information systems, and others. The objectives and implementation of and subgrant data for planned criminal justice programs in the areas of information systems, crime prevention and detection, adjudication, trial delay, residential and nonresidential rehabilitation, and criminal justice education and training programs are delineated. Funding limitations for local units, construction, and personnel are mentioned, and LEAA grant funds for high crime/law enforcement activity areas for 1973 are discussed and illustrated. Corrections special requirements and the evaluation plan for 1973 are included. A list of preapplications approved for submission by program area is shown. Priorities for the multiyear plan are mentioned, and the multiyear budget for each component of the plan (communications, special enforcement units and programs, and high crime impact program) is included. Regional reports on the progress made toward implementing the plan's components are presented, and the needs, problems, and program priorities and plans for the juvenile justice and adult system and for the criminal justice training and salary incentive system are outlined. An overall multiyear budget is included. Tables and a few maps are included.
