THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS COUNCIL ARE TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF COMPETENCE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PERSONNEL BY ESTABLISHING MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR EMPLOYMENT, RETENTION, AND TRAINING.
Abstract
THE TRAINING AND STANDARDS COUNCIL WAS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR CONDUCTING AND STIMULATING RESEARCH DESIGNED TO IMPROVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION IN THE FIELD OF TRAINING AND EDUCATION. THE AREAS COVERED BY COUNCIL REGULATIONS RELATING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CORRECTIONAL PERSONNEL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR EMPLOYMENT, PROBATIONARY PERIOD, CERTIFICATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PERSONNEL, MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR TRAINING, AND TRAINING COURSE ACCREDITATION SPECIFICATIONS (DESCRIPTIONS OF A REQUIREMENT SUPPLEMENTING A SECTION OF THE REGULATIONS) ARE OUTLINED FOR VARIOUS REQUIREMENTS INCLUDING THE PERSONAL HISTORY INVESTIGATION, THE FINGERPRINT RECORD CHECK, THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EXAMINATIONS, THE ACCREDITATION OF TRAINING COURSES, AND THE BASIC COURSE FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS. COPIES OF SEVERAL FORMS REQUIRED BY THE TRAINING AND STANDARDS COUNCIL ARE ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS REPORT.
