This special issue focuses on the growing and frightening problems of juvenile violence in Quebec.
Abstract
The first article studies the problems and treatment of a juvenile sample population at a Quebec rehabilitation center. The second article analyzes the recent problems of juvenile interpersonal violence and gang violence and suggests preventive measures. Next, two case studies of male juveniles uncover the complex web of personal and social forces which lead to acts of severe violence. A description and evaluation of experimental group therapy reveals the benefits of a positive, non-punitive, and informative approach to young, male sexual delinquents. The last article examining and criticizing the use of provisional detention in Quebec is not part of the overall theme of juvenile violence.
