Statistical data are provided on the total arrests and indictments for the State of New York and compared with the 1990 statistics.
Abstract
Highlights of this statistical analysis include a three-percent decrease in the total number of arrests Statewide, but especially in suburban New York City. About the same number of arrests for violent felony offenses occurred in the current year as in the past year. The number of felony indictments decreased two percent from the previous year, possibly indicating the first decline in total indictments since 1983. Across the State, the upstate area was the only region to show an increased in indictments since 1990. In tabular format, data are given for adult arrests by region, felony indictments by region, and arrests and indictments by county. In addition, graphs are provided to illustrate trends in felony and misdemeanor arrests and in felony indictments (including superior court information) between 1980 and 1991. 8 graphs and tables
