Abstract
THIS STUDY EXAMINES CRIME STATISTICS COLLECTED IN NEW YORK CITY DURING A FIVE-YEAR PERIOD(1963-1967). ITS FOCUS IS ON CHANGES IN CRIME PATTERNS OCCURRING AFTER A 40PERCENT INCREASE IN THE POLICE MANPOWER OF THE 20TH PRECINCT, LOCATED WEST OF CENTRAL PARK. THE METHODOLOGY, PROBLEMS, RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS OF THE STUDY ARE INCLUDED, ALONG WITH PERTINENT STATISTICAL DATA.
