ARGUMENT THAT THE METHOD OF JUDGING EFFECTIVENESS OF POLICE OFFICERS NEEDS TO BE RE-EXAMINED IN LIGHT OF THE CHANGING POLICE ROLE.
Abstract
THE AUTHORS POINT OUT THAT SINCE THE ROLES, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS HAVE CHANGED, SO SHOULD THE MEANS OF EVALUATING THEIR PERFORMANCE. ROLES IN PERFORMANCE EVALUATION ARE CONSIDERED FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE SUPERVISOR (THE SERGEANT), THE SUBORDINATE ( THE ORDINARY POLICE OFFICER), AND THE SUPERVISOR'S SUPERVISOR (THE LIEUTENANT).
