THIS TAPE IS CONCERNED WITH THE INCREASINGLY SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYED BY CRIMINALS AND POLICE AND WITH THE GROWTH OF CORRECTIONAL DIVERSION PROGRAMS.
Abstract
SOME CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS FEAR A LOSS OF CIVIL LIBERTIES AS CORRECTIONAL DIVERSION PROGRAMS BECOME MORE INTRUSIVE AND COERCIVE AND ENCOMPASS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE, WHILE OTHERS SEE THE NEW METHODS OF CRIME CONTROL AS A MORE EFFECTIVE RESPONSE TO PERSONAL AND SOCIAL NEEDS. THIS TAPE IS PART OF A SERIES OF EIGHT TAPES (NCJ-31870-31877) ON THE POSTURE OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IN THE YEAR 2000, WHICH SELLS FOR $59.40. THE TAPES WERE EDUTED FROM THE PROCEEDINGS OF A CONFERENCE ON 'THE POLITICS OF CHANGE IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM'.
