THIS MANUAL IS DESIGNED TO HELP INMATES OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE PRISON UNDERSTAND WHAT IS REQUIRED OF THEM DURING THEIR STAY AND TO EXPLAIN PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE TO THEM.
Abstract
INMATES ARE REQUESTED TO OBEY ALL DIRECTIVES AND RULES CONTAINED IN THE MANUAL. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS, WITH LOSS OF GOOD TIME OR FURTHER COURT ACTION THAT COULD RESULT IN MORE CONFINEMENT TIME. TWO MAJOR SECTIONS CONSTITUTE THE MANUAL. ONE DEALS WITH RULES AND THE OTHER FOCUSES ON INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES. THE RULES SECTION COVERS ORDERS, RULES OF CONDUCT, PUNISHABLE CONDUCT, PERSONAL HYGIENE AND APPEARANCE, NAME TAGS, CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT, LIVING AREAS, PERSONAL BELONGINGS, ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AND OTHER EQUIPMENT SUCH AS MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND HOBBY EQUIPMENT, PERSONAL FUNDS, MAIL, TELEPHONE CALLS, INMATE REQUEST SLIPS, VISITORS, AND THE PRISON PASS SYSTEM. THE INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES SECTION EXAMINES THE MISSION OF THE PRISON, STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES, INMATE RECEPTION AND QUARANTINE, MEDICAL AND DENTAL PROCEDURES, THE CANTEEN, THE LIBRARY, BOARDS, GOOD CONDUCT TIME, EDUCATION AND TRAINING, INMATE PAY, CHAPLAIN SERVICES, PRERELEASE SERVICES, THE MINIMUM SECURITY UNIT, COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS CENTERS, TOURS OF THE PRISON, AND GENERAL INFORMATION. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES IS PROVIDED IN AN ANNEX TO THE MANUAL. A GLOSSARY OF SELECTED PRISON TERMS IS INCLUDED. (DEP)
