Abstract
Prepared by the Department of Corrections, this annual report presents comprehensive information on activities occurring within the New Hampshire Department of Corrections beginning July 1, 2002, and ending on June 30, 2003. The report covers several activities and services within the various offices of the Department, as well as fiscal year statistical information that includes: correctional industries, research and planning, human resources, Bureau of Training, victim services, Legal Bureau, Public Information Office, Division of Medical/Forensics, NH State Prison for Men, Granite State High School, Bureau of Services, classification, NH State Prison for Women, NHSP/W Vocational Education, Lakes Region Facility, Northern NH Correctional Facility, Division of Field Services, community corrections, Adult Parole Board, general statistical data, FY-03 admissions, FY-03 releases, historical population, FY-03 sentences received, FY-03 ages, FY-03 releases, total population data, gender/ethnic data, and jurisdictions. Annual highlights presented by the Department’s commissioner included: (1) the release of a report from the Legislative Fiscal Committee on sexual harassment and sexual misconduct; (2) 3-year accreditation received by the NH State Prison for Women from the American Correctional Association; (3) part one of a $1.8 million Federal grant for prisoner reentry was received; (4) new substance abuse treatment program became operational at the Northern NH Correctional Facility and the Lakes Region Facility; (5) decentralized training for staff; and (6) plans were begun for the new construction or relocation of the women’s prison at Goffstown.
