DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA'S INVESTIGATIVE TRAINING SCHOOL USES ADVANCED TEACHING METHODS SUCH AS VIDEO TAPE TO TRAIN OFFICERS FOR INVESTIGATION WORK.
Abstract
THE INVESTIGATIVE TRAINING SCHOOL IN DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE SOUTHEASTERN PART OF THE UNITED STATES. ITS CURRICULUM INCLUDES THE USE OF VIDEO-TAPE PRESENTATIONS, DISCUSSION GROUPS, AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE TECHNIQUES. THE SYLLABUS FOR THE INVESTIGATIVE TRAINING SCHOOL INCLUDES SPECIFIC INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES, GENERAL HUMAN BEHAVIOR CHARACTERISTICS, AND INFORMATION RETRIEVAL PROCESSES. THE DOCUMENT INCLUDES A LIST OF THE COURSES OFFERED, TEACHING TECHNIQUES, AND A DESCRIPTION OF VIDEO TAPE EQUIPMENT WHICH OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO USE IMAGINATION AND DRAMA IN POLICE TRAINING.
