THIS GRANT WAS AWARDED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF AN ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE DEGREE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA.
Abstract
A CURRICULUM WAS DEVELOPED, APPROVED, AND OFFERED FIRST DURING THE SUMMER OF 1967. THE CONTENT OF THE ORIGINAL CURRICULUM DRAFT IS OUTLINED. AFTER CONSIDERATION OF CRITICISMS AND OBJECTIONS THE CURRICULUM WAS REVISED AND IS PRESENTED. THE ORIGINAL GOALS WERE REALISTICALLY AND SUCCESSFULLY MET. THESE GOALS, WERE TO PROVIDE A BROAD FOUNDATION OF COURSE WORK FOR THE PROSPECTIVE POLICE OFFICER, ACCOMPLISH PRE-SERVICE EDUCATION, DEVELOP A BACKGROUND TO THEORY AND PRINCIPLES IN LAW ENFORCEMENT SKILLS, AND PROMOTE UPGRADING OF LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE CURRENT CURRICULUM WITH CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTIONS ARE PROVIDED IN AN ATTACHMENT.
