RESULTS OF A NEEDS ASSOCIATION TEST WERE COMPARED FOR A GROUP OF 112 PRISONERS AND A MATCHED SAMPLE OF 112 NORMAL CONTROL SUBJECTS TO DISCOVER WHETHER NEED ASSOCIATION SCORES WOULD DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS.
Abstract
THE TEST USED WAS THE PICTURE IDENTIFICATION TEST NEED ASSOCIATION MEASURE, WHICH PROVIDES MEASURES OF JUDGMENT, ATTITUDE, AND ASSOCIATIONS FOR SUCH NEEDS AS ACHIEVEMENT, AFFILIATION, AGGRESSION, DOMINANCE, SEX, PLAY, AND ORDER. THE TEST RESULTS WERE ANALYZED BY 'T' TEST AND DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS. SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THE NEED ASSOCIATION SCORES WERE FOUND BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS. DIFFERENCES IN THESE NEED ASSOCIATION SCORES ARE THEN INTERPRETED IN LIGHT OF PAST FINDINGS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
