This fiscal year 1994 Juvenile Statistical Report of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services addresses juveniles confined or on parole as of June 1994, youth development center admissions, juvenile commitments, evaluator admissions, parole admissions, juvenile releases, commitment releases, evaluator releases, parole discharges, juvenile parole safekeepers, juvenile parole revocations, and foster care placements.
Abstract
The average juvenile population of youth development centers and parolees was 563.5 for fiscal year 1994. The average daily population of the youth development center in Kearney was 183.5; the average daily population of the youth development center in Geneva was 83.6. A total of 296.4 juveniles constituted the average daily population on parole. Commitments to Kearney in fiscal year 1994 were 507; to Geneva, 89; and to parole, 485. A total of 21 juveniles were admitted to Kearney, and 614 were admitted to Geneva. Releases for Kearney in fiscal year 1994 were 513; for Geneva, 83; and for parole, 376. All those admitted for evaluation were released. A total of 187 parolees were returned for hearings, and 133 had their parole revoked. Statistics on juvenile parole "safekeepers" refers to juveniles on parole who can be admitted to a Youth Rehabilitation Treatment Center for the purpose of safekeeping until the Juvenile Parole Authority has determined whether to reinstate the individual to parole or revoke parole.
