REPORT GIVES AID IN REORGANIZING TRIBAL COURT SYSTEM TO MAXIMIZE ITS EFFICIENCY.
Abstract
IN 1959 THE NAVAJO JUDICIAL SYSTEM WAS CREATED TO REFEREE CRIMINAL AND CIVIL COMPLANTS ON THE INDIAN RESERVATION. AS THE SYSTEM EXISTS NOW, HOWEVER, IT IS INADEQUATE IN FACILITIES AND SECURITY NEEDS. THE GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF SOME OF THE COURTS IN REMOTE AREAS POSES A PROBLEM FOR THE HIRING OF QUALIFIED COURT PERSONNEL. THIS REPORT RECOMMENDS RENOVATION OF SOME OF THE FACILITIES, AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW COURT OF APPEALS AND JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. A BREAKDOWN OF SPACE REQUIREMENTS AND PRELIMINARY COST ESTIMATES ARE INCLUDED IN THE REPORT....BS
