THIS CENTER WAS DESIGNED TO SERVE AS A NATIONWIDE INFORMATION CLEARINGHOUSE AND LEGAL REFERENCE SERVICE FOR PROSECUTORS CONCERNED WITH OBSCENITY PROSECUTIONS.
Abstract
THIS REPORT COVERS CENTER ACTIVITIES DURING ITS FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION, JANUARY 1, 1973 TO FEBRUARY 28, 1974, INCLUDING ESTABLISHING THE PRIMARY NEEDS OF LOCAL PROSECUTORS AND DEVELOPING THE MOST EFFECTIVE MANNER FOR SERVING THESE NEEDS. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED INCLUDED: THE CONVENING OF AN ADVISORY PANEL OF SPECIALISTS TO HELP POSTULATE THE HYPOTHESIS OF THE PROJECT, A SURVEY OF PROSECUTORS' OFFICES, PREPARATION AND PUBLICATION OF A 'BRIEF BANK' OF OBSCENITY FILINGS, TECHNICAL AND RESEARCH ASSISTANCE, AND THE PREPARATION AND PUBLICATION OF 'HOW TO DO IT' MANUALS FOR PROSECUTORS, A BI-MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, AND AN OBSCENITY LAW REPORTER.
