Abstract
Assistant Attorney General Gurule describes Office of Justice Programs priorities including gangs and their links to drugs and violence. An article on high-tech tools for the '90s' describes how research on DNA, fingerprint, and other technology is providing new and more accurate ways to determine the facts about a case. Since 1987, the DUF program has used urinalysis and self-reports to provide national information on arrestees’ recent drug use. Researchers offer a first look at data they are gathering on the law enforcement response to the juvenile gang problem. The document includes abstracts of publications concerning: corrections; courts; crime prevention; criminology; drugs and crime; juvenile justice; law enforcement; reference and statistics; and victims.
