Abstract
Operation Bootstrap places local police administrators and officers in the management training classrooms of major U.S. corporations. The article reviews the program’s history, how it functions, and where it is headed. The article on the Drug Use Forecasting (DUF) system attempts to: (1) illustrate how the DUF system can be adapted to various local needs and situations; and (2) share some preliminary observations on the activities of crack users and dealers. An article on privatization of juvenile probation services examines the experiences of five local jurisdictions as they accomplished the transition from public to private operation. The document contains abstracts of publications on corrections; courts; criminology; drugs and crime; juvenile justice; law enforcement; offenses; reference and statistics; staff resource development; technology and systems; and victims.
