Abstract
Utilizing the nationally mandated reporting scheme, the office of crime statistics presents the official crime statistics for the 2000 calendar year. Offenses are categorized to show the number of victims per offense as reported by the police. Included offenses are murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, driving causing death, assault, sexual assault, kidnapping/abduction, armed robbery, unarmed robbery, blackmail/extortion, unlawful entry with intent, motor vehicle theft, and other theft. In addition to the 2000 offense rates for South Australia the authors also present data to show emerging trends, comparison of offense rates in South Australia as opposed to other Australian provinces and comparison of 2000 offense patterns and offense patterns in prior years.
