SEMINAR ON TRAINING IN EFFECTIVE INVESTIGATIVE AND PROSECUTION METHODS FOR THE CONTROL OF WELFARE FRAUD.
Abstract
TOPICS DISCUSSED INCLUDED THE IMPORTANCE AND IMPACT OF WELFARE FRAUD AND THE MEASURES WHICH HAVE BEEN TAKEN BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE TO INDIVIDUAL STATES IN CURBING IT. A MAJOR PORTION OF THE SEMINAR WAS DEVOTED TO TRAINING AND WAS HELD IN THREE ROTATING SMALL GROUP WORKSHOPS. THE CURRICULUM FOR THESE WORKSHOPS CONSISTED OF A DISCUSSION OF WELFARE FRAUD PREVENTION, AN EXAMINATION OF INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES, AND A WORKSHOP ON TRIAL TACTICS AND TECHNIQUES RELATING TO WELFARE FRAUD, THE SEMINAR WAS CONCLUDED WITH DISCUSSIONS ON CONSTITUTIONAL AND OTHER LEGAL ISSUES RELATED TO WELFARE FRAUD INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION.
