This report deals with statistical information on the operations of 12 demonstration centers on child abuse and neglect intervention services: specifically, on the program as a whole and on individual centers.
Abstract
This third volume of the three-volume 1976 annual report of the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect includes material dealing with 39 specific service categories, for which costs and services are described. Comparisons are made of the 12 centers, including those in Chicago, Honolulu, New York, Philadelphia, and San Diego. Definitions of service categories are given as they appear on center summary forms. Client services provided by the most centers were in the areas of individual adult counseling, transportation/waiting, crisis intervention, couple/family counseling, legal assistance, psychological evaluation of adults, education services, emergency funds, psychological evaluation of children, residential shelter, and group counseling for children. In general, findings of this evaluation are encouraging because they indicate that clients of the demonstration centers are offered comprehensive medical, psychological, legal, social, shelter, support, and crisis intervention services; also, that such services are actually used in implementing comprehensive treatment plans. Statistical tables show families receiving planned services; families served, by delivery mode; families served, by administration base and delivery mode; and families served, by case type. Figures show costs by center type, total value by center type, and number of cases receiving planned services by case type. The report covers 1976.
