Abstract
THE AUTHORS DISCUSS TRENDS IN JUVENILE CORRECTIONS AND THE STATUTORY CHANGES RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE TRENDS. COMMENTS ARE PRESENTED ON INSTITUTIONALIZATION, AND ON THE INCREASED TREND TOWARD DIVERSION WHICH HAS LED TO REDUCED COMMITMENTS TO PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS. THE SECTION ON COMMUNITY BASED INTERVENTION CITES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HALFWAY HOUSES, COMMUNITY TREATMENT FACILITIES, AND GROUP FOSTER HOMES. THE AUTHORS ALSO DISCUSS FEDERAL AND STATE PLANS FOR JUVENILE JUSTICE PROGRAMS.
