Public service announcements featuring prominent entertainment figures urge citizens to 'get involved' to help prevent and reduce crime.
Abstract
Both 1-minute and 30-second versions of the same messages are shown. The messages are delivered by Telly Savalas, James McEachan, Bob Hope, Angie Dickinson, and Carol Burnett. The incidents depict juvenile delinquents being arrested, a defendant's release because witnesses refused to testify in court, a Project Whistlestop participant in St. Louis 'blowing the whistle' on crime, and a rape victim being helped by police and other support personnel. The theme of all the media spots is the same: get involved in the fight against crime. Citizens are urged to write the Department of Justice for more information.
