Abstract
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN PERCEPTIONS ABOUT DRUG ABUSE HAVE OCCURRED WITH SPECIAL RELEVANCE FOR MEMBERS OF MINORITY GROUPS. PROBLEMS THAT IN EARLIER TIMES WERE CONSIDERED ENDEMIC TO THE GHETTO ARE NOW EVIDENT IN THE MAINSTREAM OF SOCIETY. IN RECOGNITION OF THESE FACTS, THIS RESOURCE BOOK WAS COMPILED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT DRUG ABUSE AND DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT AS IT RELATES TO PUERTO RICANS, WOMEN, CHILDREN AND YOUTH, MEXICAN AMERICANS, BLACK AMERICANS, ASIAN AMERICANS AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS, AS WELL AS NATIVE AMERICANS. IN ADDITION, INFORMATION AND EDUCATION RESOURCES ARE IDENTIFIED INCLUDING MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES, (I.E., FILMS AND INSTRUCTIONAL TELEVISION), A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF CHILDREN'S FOLKLORE FOR STORYTELLERS, SPANISH LANGUAGE MATERIALS, PERIODICALS ABOUT DRUGS, PUBLISHERS AND BOOKSELLERS, FEDERAL SOURCES, AND RESEARCH GROUPS AND FOUNDATIONS. NAMES, ADDRESSES, TELEPHONE NUMBERS, AND DESCRIPTIONS OF MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED WHERE APPROPRIATE. (LWM)
