The administrator of the Mountainview (NJ) Youth Correctional Facility compiled statistics and reviewed significant developments, specific events, and issues for fiscal year 1992-1993.
Abstract
The average inmate population was 1,618--a decrease from the 1,711 of the previous fiscal year. The average age was 23.9 years, and the average length of stay was 10 months. Inmate morale was good and major incidents were kept to a minimum. There were two escapes, four attempted escapes, and 28 assaults on staff. There were 45,044 visits during the fiscal year; 520 furloughs were granted. The goals of the many inmate services departments are reviewed; as is inmate participation in vocational, educational, and community service programs. On October 19, 130 inmates participated in the educational department's annual graduation exercises. One inmate was married at the facility; another, while on furlough.
