Average daily population figures are presented for the male and female and juvenile inmate populations of Florida county detention facilities for the month of July 1992 along with data on the number of inmates held for trial or sentencing for felony and misdemeanor offenses and those detained or sentenced for violation of probation.
Abstract
There were 35,272 inmates in Florida's county detention facilities during the month of July 1992, a 2.1 percent increase over that reported for June. The statewide average daily inmate population totals 30,664 adult males, 3,711 adult females, and 897 juvenile offenders. For July 1992, 71.9 percent of the total inmate population were incarcerated for felony offenses and 21.8 percent for misdemeanor crimes. Offenders held for trial represented 56.8 percent of the inmate population; 27.5 percent were sentenced on either felony or misdemeanor crimes. Inmates detained for violation of probation represented 7.9 percent of the inmate population. Average daily inmate populations exceeded the rate of capacity between 1 and 25 percent for 13 of the 67 counties (19.40 percent). 6 figures and 4 tables
