This monthly management report details inmate status population, admissions to prison, releases from prison, escapes, and death row inmates housed in Florida Department of Corrections facilities.
Abstract
The inmate status population increased by 1.7 percent in June 1993 from the previous month and by 7.6 percent from the previous year. Admissions rose by 14.5 percent from the previous month, but were 5.2 percent fewer than forecast by the Criminal Justice Estimating Conference. Inmate releases totally 2,138 during the reporting period, down by less than 1 percent from May 1993. In June, there were 17 escapes from major institutions and 15 escapes from community facilities; there were 26 recaptures during the month. The average monthly escapes from both types of institutions increased from 1992 figures. Inmates on death row decreased to 341 in June, with 2 admissions and 3 losses.
