This report from the Missouri Department of Public Safety presents the State's fiscal year 2011 statewide drug and violent crime strategy.
Abstract
The State's strategy was developed as a result of funding received through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. For FY 2011 (July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011), $5,812,481.42 was available for use by the State's Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Program to provide financial assistance to 32 State and local level projects through the 2010 JAG solicitations. The projects funded included 28 law enforcement programs, 2 prosecution and court programs, 1 prevention and education program, and 1 planning, evaluation, and technology improvement program. The ability for the State to receive JAG funding to support the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Program enables State and local governments to implement aggressive responses to maintaining public safety. This report examines the projects and initiatives funded with JAG monies that address the illicit drug problem and violent crime in the State. These include enforcement/interdiction, prevention/education, treatment, and criminal litigation programs; programs to improve criminal history records; and initiatives to improve statewide illicit drug and violent crime data collection.
