OUTLINE OF A COMPUTER-BASED SECURITY SYSTEM DESIGNED TO MONITOR FIRE AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES, INTRUSION, POWER, AND PHONE LINE FAILURES FOR AN ENTIRE COMMUNITY.
Abstract
THE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF FOUR MAJOR SEGMENTS - THE IN-HOME UNIT, CENTRAL STATION COMMUNICATION LINKS, CENTRAL STATION EQUIPMENT, AND THE RESPONSE SEGMENT. A UNIQUE FEATURE OF THIS SYSTEM IS THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS ARE ABLE TO SHARE A COMMON LINK WITH THE CENTRAL CONTROL POINT THROUGH SIGNAL MULTIPLEXING. THE AUTHOR SAYS THAT THE PROPOSED SYSTEM APPEARS WELL SUITED FOR NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS BUT MAY NOT BE ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE FOR EXISTING TOWNS AND CITIES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
