This article explains the activities of the Milton Helpern International Center for the Forensic Sciences sponsored by the International Reference Organization in the Forensic Sciences and Medicine (INFORM) and located at the Wichita State University in Kansas.
Abstract
The center was established in 1975. Its objectives include developing continued communication between forensic scientists of the world through the circulation of a quarterly newsletter; publication of annual literature collections and information about individuals, organizations, research, and problems involving the forensic sciences in the form of an international bibliography; and reporting periodic meetings and programs in America and countries overseas. The center also provides a reference center and library program for students and faculty of the Wichita State University, as well as a reference service for members of INFORM and for anyone in the United States, the Americas, or overseas who requires information about a specific problem, articles, or contact with an expert in a specific field. Operation and resources of the reference center are explained, as is the program of registry in unidentified skeletal remains. Also discussed and illustrated is the case registry of unusual cases. One reference, tables, and photographs are given.
