FLORIDA'S DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS COVERTED ITS MANUAL IDENTIFICATION FILES TO A STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM COMBINING COMPUTER INDEXING AND MICROFILM REFERENCING.
Abstract
THE NEW SYSTEM IS MUCH FASTER AND HAS SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED THE SIZE OF THE FILES. THE ADDITIONAL UTILIZATION OF A COMPUTER OUTPUT PRINTER OBVIATES THE NEED FOR SPLICING CORRECTIONS BECAUSE NEW MICROFILM IS PRINTED DIRECTLY FROM THE COMPUTER MORE QUICKLY AND LESS EXPENSIVELY THAN MANUAL SPLICING.
