This annual report of the Miami Coalition for a Drug-Free Community highlights significant initiatives completed or underway as of 1992.
Abstract
The coalition initiated the Drug-Free Youth in Town Program at a senior high school; obtained High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area monies for Federal, State, and local enforcement agencies in the Miami area; participated in drug policy games sponsored by Rand Corporation to develop a 3-year public policy plan on drug abuse; attracted more than 1,000 people to an Interfaith rally; demolished more than 1,700 crack houses; fostered collaboration among cultural arts organizations, social service agencies, and professionals who promote the advantages of being drug-free; and received $800,000 to fund drug abuse prevention services in Dade County. The coalition's drug control plan is considered to be a national model for community action, and organizational and strategic planning activities of the coalition are reviewed. Photographs
