This documentary-style video explores addiction and recovery from methamphetamine abuse.
Abstract
In the first part of the video the narrator explains that there are over 300 ways to manufacture methamphetamine. This drug is a stimulant that triggers changes in physical and emotional functioning in humans. Former addicts discuss their journey through addiction and recovery. They recount the need to take more and more of the drug to get similar results. Addiction is both a physical and mental problem. Former addicts explain that addiction to methamphetamine happens very quickly and results in overnight changes in both the new addict and in the addict’s personal and professional relationships. In recent years, deaths from methamphetamine use have tripled. The second part of the video recounts the recovery of methamphetamine users. The narrator explains that no one can overcome this addiction without help. Former addicts explain about the recovery process and the daily struggle they endure to stay off of the drug. The ending message is that while recovery is a difficult and life-long process, it is worth the effort to reclaim life.
